It'll be interesting to see if that happens!

Now that I know a little more about the hobby, I'm not sure that it will happen though.

Granddaddy was an "old brass-pounder", a term for the die hard Morse Code junkies that references key that you tap to produce the code. I don't recall ever seeing him operate on one of the voice modes.

He also spent his time operating on the worldwide HF bands that I don't yet have permissions on. I need to upgrade my license class to General. I don't think he ever spent much time on the "local" frequencies that I'm able to use.

I look forward to having somebody recognize the call though.

Congrats on the callsign!

A long time ago you talked about trying to get that callsign, and we had a discussion about what would happen if some old-timer heard you use it and thought you were Granddaddy. Now I really hope that happens. I would love to hear that some of his ham radio friends waxed poetic about him to his grandson, even if it's just remembering the types of conversations they had together and the topics that they used to discuss over the airwaves. It would be really interesting to get that kind of insight about him.

Please let me know if that ever happens.
